Description

In Puyjourdes, in the Lot, Domaine de Moulin Phare offers a gîte set inside an early 18th century mill, in the heart of the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park. The property has a single rental unit accommodating between one and four guests, with a locked garage available on site. It works equally well as a stopover on a Quercy and Rouergue route or as a base for exploring the area over two or three days. ACCOMMODATION The Mill, called Kvarnen in Swedish, is arranged over three levels. The living area is on the ground floor, a sofa bed is located on the mezzanine level, and the bedroom with a queen size bed is at the top. The bathroom is separate and located in a small stone outbuilding attached to the mill. The staircase is steep, so the gîte is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility. The accommodation is heated and can be used comfortably in winter. The mill stands on 3 acres of land bordered by the dry stone walls typical of the causse landscape. The owners, Petra and Thomas, speak French, English and Swedish. BIKER WELCOME Motorcycles can be parked in a locked garage directly on the property with easy access. Two motorcycles can be stored there free of charge. ROADS & SCENERY The mill sits on the Causse de Limogne, a limestone plateau crossed by narrow and quiet roads winding between dry stone walls, dwarf oaks and juniper trees. The D911, which links Cahors to Villefranche de Rouergue via Limogne en Quercy, crosses the plateau from west to east and provides one of the main routes through the area. To the north, the Lot Valley offers one of the most enjoyable rides nearby. The D662 follows the river from Cajarc toward Saint Cirq Lapopie and Cahors, running close to the cliffs near Bouziès and linking a series of bends between the river and the rock. The Célé Valley runs roughly parallel and can be explored along the D41 toward Figeac, through a narrower landscape bordered by limestone cliffs and villages built into the hillsides. The two valleys meet at Conduché, making it easy to create a full day loop from the property. Heading east, the causse descends toward Aveyron and Villefranche de Rouergue. To the north, beyond the Lot Valley, the Causse de Gramat opens up.
