Lot

The Lot is a territory shaped by water and limestone, where the Dordogne river has carved deep valleys through vast causses plateaus. From Rocamadour suspended on its cliff, to the natural wonder of the Gouffre de Padirac, and the medieval town of Cahors surrounded by vineyards, the department offers a compact but extremely varied landscape. The Quercy region alternates between dry stone plateaus, green valleys, caves, and fortified villages perched above the rivers. It is a destination made for road exploration. Secondary roads are quiet, winding and scenic, linking villages, viewpoints and natural sites with very little traffic outside the main tourist spots. Between the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park, the Dordogne valley and the Lot valley, every ride feels different within a short distance.

What to see and do in the Lot ?

The Lot is famous for Rocamadour, one of the most iconic pilgrimage sites in France, dramatically built into a cliff above the Alzou valley. Nearby, the Gouffre de Padirac reveals an underground river and massive caves that can be visited by boat. Cahors stands out with its medieval bridge Pont Valentré, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its vineyards producing the famous Malbec wine. The village of Saint Cirq Lapopie, perched above the Lot river, is regularly ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. The Dordogne valley offers canoeing, swimming spots and prehistoric caves, while the Causses du Quercy park features limestone landscapes, dolmens and starry skies recognized as some of the darkest in Europe.
