Description

Hôtel L'Alpage is a three star chalet hotel with 14 rooms, located in Le Chinaillon, the high altitude hamlet of Le Grand Bornand in Haute Savoie. Set directly on the road to the Col de la Colombière, the hotel enjoys a south facing position overlooking the alpine pastures and the Aravis mountain range, right on the Route des Grandes Alpes. The centre of Le Grand Bornand is around 10 minutes away by car, Lake Annecy around 45 minutes and Geneva about 1 hour. It is a great base for both an overnight stop and a longer stay exploring the surrounding mountain passes. ACCOMMODATION The 14 rooms cater for solo travellers, couples and groups, with options ranging from double rooms to family rooms accommodating up to 8 guests. Double rooms feature a 160 cm bed, triple rooms combine one double and one single bed, while quadruple and family rooms are available in several configurations, including some with bunk beds. Double, triple and quadruple rooms overlook the surrounding mountains. Check in is available from 4 pm and check out is before 10 am. Reception is open from 8 am to 8 pm. Guests planning to arrive later simply need to inform the hotel by phone or email. DINING The hotel has its own restaurant, open in the evening. It operates from late May to late September and again from mid December to mid April. Outside these periods, guests will need to make alternative arrangements for dinner. MOTORCYCLIST WELCOME A locked garage is located directly at the foot of the hotel and can accommodate between 6 and 8 motorcycles depending on their size. Use of the garage is free of charge, and a secured courtyard provides additional parking. Motorcyclists also have access to an air compressor, a selection of basic tools and an area for cleaning helmets. Motorcycle groups are welcome. ROADS & SCENERY The Col de la Colombière begins almost directly outside the hotel. Le Chinaillon is the final hamlet before the winding road climbs towards the pass and descends towards Le Reposoir and the Arve Valley. In the opposite direction, the road leads towards the Col des Aravis, Flumet and the Beaufortain. Nearby, the Col de la Croix Fry connects La Clusaz with Manigod and Thônes and makes it easy to create a shorter loop back towards Le Grand Bornand. Further afield, the Col de la Ramaz and Col de Joux Plane open the way towards the Chablais and the Giffre Valley, while the Col de Tamié leads down towards Albertville. The Col de la Forclaz, overlooking Lake Annecy, is around 45 minutes away. From the hotel, views stretch across the alpine pastures towards Mont Lachat. In winter, the Col de la Colombière, Col de la Ramaz and Col de Joux Plane are closed to traffic, while the Col des Aravis generally remains open.
